Membership

a) The membership of the society shall be open to all medical doctors having postgraduate medical degree or diploma and in the judgment of the committee appointed for this purpose by the Executive Council have shown sufficient interest in gastroenterology. Intending candidates will need to be proposed and seconded by bonafide members of the society. Such members will have to make payment of subscription and fees as may be provided herein after. Graduate medical doctors can also be eligible for membership of the society, duly proposed and seconded by members of the society, if they have outstanding contribution to the development of gastroenterology services or teaching or research, as judged by appropriate committee of the society mentioned in articles.

b) Associate Members : Members of the public interested in gastroenterology are eligible to become associate members, having been only proposed and seconded by members of the society as mentioned in the article. Associate members will have to pay fees and subscriptions to the society as mentioned here in after. As society members will not be able to hold office and will not have any voting rights. They can participate in all other activities of the society.

c) Every member of the association under takes to contribute to the assets of the society in the event of the some being wound up, during the time that he is a member, for payments of the debts and liabilities of the society contracted during the period of his membership, and the costs, charge and expenses of winding up the same and for the adjustment of the rights of the contributors amongst themselves such amount as may be required by the society.
